Sertec Marine CMCE obtains RINA approval for lightning-prevention devices

Since METSTRADE 2023, Sertec Marine’s range of CMCE lightning-prevention devices have been fully approved by RINA, with Type approval Certificate ELE281223XG.

The Sertec CMCE devices de-ionise the atmosphere around the vessel using a patented design, first invented in 1918 by Nikola Tesla himself. Back in December 2023, RINA confirmed they were fully understanding and approving of this certified technology.

Following presentations to parties, such as the IIMS, and exhibitions, such as Seawork and METSTRADE, the desire for RINA approval was clear. We are pleased that Mr Chifarelli, the founder and CEO of Sertec, agreed that this was a worthwhile investment. Since achieving this approval, it has been a key driver in continued business with the OEM and mast-building clients across the UK and Europe.

Sertec is the only intelligent lightning prevention system in the world, coupled with the only RINA-approved lightning prevention system. This bestows huge confidence in the technology hidden within the devices.

Lightning protection is subject to strict standards, and we are proud to have earned the RINA Approval, to add to a long list of other approvals and certifications. This recognition provides the marine industry with the assurance of Sertec’s quality and reliability. RINA is accredited by Accredia according to standards EN 17065 & EN17020 to IEC EN 61508, IEC EN 61511, IEC EN 62061, IEC EN 13849 & IEC EN 16590.
The Sertec CMCE Marine devices are therefore accredited under this certification body.
